Back..

It’s not easy being part of this world..

Too much hatred..

Too many fights..

Too much self pride and dignity is no good trust me.. SCREW el Karama! I call it arrogance and it’s not something to be proud of!

Even if you are wrong or right, it doesn’t matter any more..

At least not to me.. It makes the person appear so small and childish to me..

The bigger stronger person to me is the one who can step up and say sorry.. or try to fix things even if he/she didn’t do anything wrong..

It breaks my heart when I see those I love kill each other verbally and I can’t do anything..

I just sit, hear and watch .. since nobody listens to the ‘invisible’ me and my ‘useless’ opinions.

How are we going to teach our kids good values if the adults are acting like this?!

That is why it keeps going from generation to generation, because we are passing those ideals to our kids..

Because we teach them about ‘pride’ rather than ‘having a big heart’..

Because we teach them that ‘appearances matter’..

Because we teach them that having a strong personality is by being arrogant..

Because we teach them about getting back at someone (wrong or right, doesn’t matter!) instead of forgive and forget..

Sorry for such a lame ‘I’m back’ post but I had to let it go somewhere since I can’t do anything else.

Yousuf’s Crush

June 25, 2008 at 10:25 am | In Family, My Kids, Pissed Off! | 37 Comments

I know i haven’t been posting lately.. I was a bit tired, plus family came and got busy..

Anyways, you know my almost 3 year old (He will be 3 on the 12th of July)? Well, he seems to have a crush on a girl in the nursary. He goes on like “Yasmin 7ilwa (pretty)”  and ” A7eb Yasmin (I love Yasmin)”. One day, I went to take pictures of him, and then he said “Take a picture of Yasmin” . Two days ago, she was sick and didn’t come, and he was upset ” Yasmin Ma yat eskool (Yasmin didn’t come to school) “.  When I tell him i don’t like this Yasmin girl, he gets VERY angry and starts to give me those ‘Don’t you dare say that’ look!!

Should I worry? loooool

Moreover, one day I went and when he said goodbye to the other kids, a girl came up and said “a kiss? and she kissed him on the cheeks (Thank God). But the next day i went to pick him up, TWO girls came and said  ”a kiss?” and kissed him on the mouth! I was like Oiiiii back off! Maybe I should inform the girls’ parents to put some sense into those girls :P and my son is soooooo grounded!!!

O bas..

How are you? O what’s happening with you?

Bad Narrator!

June 4, 2008 at 1:12 pm | In Cartoon, My Kids, Thoughts, Tv Shows | 14 Comments

The other day, Yousuf got an American version of a Thomas the Tank Engine DvD.. I played it on the player and a few minutes later he was like “Hatha mo 7ila mabbiiii” (That is not good I don’t want it) . I was wondering what it could be and my only guess is that he doesn’t like the american narrator because when I played one of his other DVDs narrated by Ringo Starr, he was beaming!

I always wonder WHY they do that. For example, ‘Thomas’ is British, WHY do they have to change the narrator for an American Audience? It’s the same language, just the accent. Also, ‘Little Einisteins’ on the Disney channel, it’s American, WHY do they change it on UK’s Playhouse Disney? Why do the Europeans dub American films?! Is it because they don’t want to learn a new language or subtitles isn’t enough? Ok some people may need it but generally speaking, I find it odd! Can you imagine a Hollywood movie dubbed into Kuwaiti? looool imagine! Which reminds me of the Disney films and cartoons dubbed in Eygptian!

I am all for keeping everything original as it is.

Good Morning Fellas!

For the past few days, I’ve been really tired, too much neck pain. I am still getting the physio for it. Sometimes it is better but sometimes not. Allah Kareem inshallah.

So what’s new? Nothing much really, the weather keeps changing its mind. Sometimes it’s like 28/30 but 2 days ago, it started to rain with a bit of a nice cool breeze. It’s nice but thing is, it makes you sick. My kids became sick like 5 times in 4 months it’s really tiring!

O bas mako shay.

Hijab Accidents

May 5, 2008 at 11:24 pm | In Me Myself & I, My Kids, Personal | 28 Comments

My question for el mo7ajjabat: Were you ever seen by accident without your Hijaab?

( Thanks Cat for the lovely drawing! )

LoL, I swear, I think I am the most one seen and honestly, is it because I don’t think or clumsy or what i am not sure.. but here are some incidents:

  • When I first wore it, I kept forgetting, and went out talking to the people who work in the house and wonder why they were looking at the floor and not at my face lol!
  • Once I was taken by an ambulance to the hospital here in Switzerland. It was when my little boy was about 10 months, and they didn’t allow me to put anything but what i already had on. Thank God I had Pjs on!
  • When I was at the hospital for my second boy, they told me the next day to get out of bed and bath my son. So, I went in that babies’ room (such a nice one BTW). So, since it was all nurses and mummies, I decided to take off my hijab as it’s not easy to bath the boy wearing it. So I did. and then a daddy came in with the mummy to bath his kid loooooooool! I couldn’t just drop my son in the water, so I just went on as if nothing had happened, finished, put on the hijab and went out!
  • Also at the hospital, my son’s pediatrician came. He knocked and came in. I wasn’t wearing it. He shook my hands and started talking. I felt, ‘What’s the point? looooooooool. I mean, I didn’t want to panic you know! It was the first time I met him, and he didn’t know I wear it but I think he was shocked when I visited him in his clinic later on.
  • Once, we called a satellite guy to come and fix the Tv. I don’t remember hearing the doorbell, I just saw a guy coming in, smiling “Bonjouuurrrrrr Madame” and I just froze then smiled back. I went inside very calmly, and put on my Hijab and sat back in the salon again!
  • I was in London once, in a salon and wanted to cut my hair. The girl told me she’d take me upstairs to cut my hair. So I went upstairs and sat on the chair . She started to cut my hair and suddenly a guy came, took something and went back down. I looked at her, about to say something but she just shrugged “never mind him, he’s gay!”
These sort of things happen a lot to me.  Do they happen to you or is it just me?
